However, the long search could be well worth it in the end. It certainly can prove to be a significant reduction in expenditures for your home theater project and ease those budget contraints.
Bargains, deep discounts, cheap, free....that's simply the way I operate. You don't have to spend big bucks to look like you did. In this article, I'd like to present to you a couple of ideas for sprucing up your home theater without breaking the bank.
A friend of mine who is building a custom home theater was fortunate to get in on a fantastic deal. A local movie theater was closing its doors for good and was having a liquidation sale. Ultimately, they sold everything -- fixtures, poster frames, popcorn machines -- and seating. He was able to score a dozen movie theater-type chairs (metal frame, fold up seat, partially reclining, cup holders, etc.) for $25 each. The upholstery on these seats were all in good condition and could be easily cleaned or even reupholstered. To make a long story short, business closings can make for a great opportunity to obtain some discount home theater seating.
On a related note, you'll often find things like this (obtained by the seller in much the same fashion as desribed above) posted on ebay or online "classifieds" forums such as Craig's List. Every once in awhile, you might locate some discount home theater seating in an antique mall, as well.
Obviously, there are a number of online merchants who sell home theater seating, with claims that they are at significant discounts. Like many products, you typically get what you pay for. Furniture of this nature is typically a longer-term investment, so choose carefully.
