My "Mini" Home Theater Project

And down the stretch they come....

At this point, it was finally time for me to do some work. Using a drywall saw, I cut the holes for my in-ceiling speakers myself (I could have had the drywaller do this, but I wanted to ensure they were centered in the floor joists. I walked around and inspected each wall with a shop light to address any wall imperfections (like a teeny glob of drywall compound -- I know, I'm retentive). Then I dusted all of the walls with a slightly damp sponge so when I applied primer to the walls they wouldn't have any drywall debris on them. I also mopped and vacuumed to get the place as clean as I could. Then I primered all of the walls. I used a tinted primer close to the final colors I would be using so I get the truest color possible. I started by trimming out all of the joints and anything else that I couldn't get with a roller. First I primered the ceiling, then the walls. Thankfully, this only took a day since I had my father and father-in-law to help me knock this step out. Below are a few pics which shows what it looked like at this stage.

It's taken about 2 1/2 months to get here, but in reality it's only been about 3-4 weeks worth of work. There's a lot of time wasted getting everyone to come in and do their work; it's more or less an issue of trying to schedule things across each specialist, and each specialist has other work going on, too. You just have to remember that you're not the only client in the world, so you have to exhibit some patience. And trust me, it's hard. I've been anticipating having this space finished so badly that's it's starting to try my patience! Please keep reading on to see if I ever get this done...
