Klipsch Subwoofer Synergy Sub-10
In this review, we'll be covering the Synergy Sub-10, part of the lineup of Klipsch subwoofers. Whether or not you feel the price tag determines whether or not something is high-end, this product is a high-end product to me. I continue to be dazzled by the power and clarity of their speaker products -- and this subwoofer delivers yet again. Do you want value when making your investment? I consider this product to be an excellent value, especially considering that I've seen (and purchased) this subwoofer sell at national retailers (typically around Black Friday) for as little as $199.
Manfufacturer's Product Description
Klipsch describes their subwoofer as "a masterpiece of sound and design, the Synergy Series Sub-10 shakes things up with its rock-solid performances. Its extraordinary power adds a dose of "reality" to movie explosions and other special effects, as well as reveals commonly elusive lower musical tones".

Product Review: Klipsch Subwoofer Synergy Sub-10
At first glance, one thing that I think sets this subwoofer apart from others in its class is how pleasing it is to the eye. My general opinion is that the design of Klipsch products reflect a blend of sleek, sophisticated, and contemporary styling that's not just your run-of-the-mill speaker enclosure -- this sub is no exception. We've heard and read some criticism on the design of the subwoofer -- but seriously, what more can you do to significantly enhance the outward appearance of a subwoofer? The subwoofer is finished in a durable, matte black laminate embellished with titanium accents on the front and the feet of the unit. An LED indicator light on the front of the unit glows blue when the unit pumping out sound and red when the unit is in a standby, power saving mode. Like many other subs with this feature, the power save mode is driven by the presence of an audio signal (after 20 minutes of no signal, the Klispch subwoofer will go into standby mode). A simple toggle switch on the back of the unit controls this feature ("On" vs. "Auto").
This Klipsch subwoofer comes equipped with many of the features and connection terminals you'll find on all grades of subwoofers and a little more. In addition to a Line In/LFE input, a
High Level Out (which allows you to filter frequencies below 100 Hz when passing the High Level In signal to your left and right front speakers) is included. The
selectable, Low Pass Crossover allows you to set the proper balance of the sub with your main speakers by filtering out frequencies at a specified threshold
(between 40-120 Hz). The Gain control, which essentially is the volume control, allows you to balance the sound level between your main speakers and the sub.
Lastly, you can make an adjustment to help accommodate the room's acoustics at your listening position using the Phase control.
Conclusion
I have been very pleased with the bass produced by the Klipsch Subwoofer Synergy Sub-10, regardless of the audio content. Across the sprectrum -- music, games, and movies -- this subwoofer has consistently produced clean, and when called upon, powerful bass. For a smaller subwoofer, I think it exercises plenty of muscle without the feeling of being forced. The bass is not boomy by any stretch. Of late, I've been pushing the low frequency effects of this subwoofer to the limit courtesy of several lossless audio tracks from Blu-ray movies in my movie collection, and need I say there isn't much left to be desired. Don't take my word for it -- try watching the opening sequence of Iron Man on BD and you'll see what I mean. This subwoofer is definitely exposing some areas in my home theater room that need some adjustment, especially a picture I have hanging on the wall that seems to want to become crooked by the end of every movie I watch!
Overall, if you're looking for a sub that delivers high-end sound for a good price, I think you should consider this Klipsch subwoofer product. I think you'll be pretty hard pressed to find a competing product in this price niche at a better value.
