During the format war, the Playstation 3 struggled mightly to gain momentum in the next generation console market with the uncertainty revolving around which format would win and competition from the industry revolutionizing Nintendo Wii. Now that the format war is over and the Wii is no longer a novelty item, the PS3 has been building its credibility as the best multifunctional platform in the market, revolutionizing the market in its own way. As such, information about the PS3 has cropped all over the web -- the sad thing is that due to the technology advances inherent in the system and driving the configuration, a fair share of it is false or misleading. Not to downplay that a lot of good information can be found, as well, but you either get bits and pieces of the full picture through a handful of sites or in those cases when you don't, you usually have to wade through a bunch of stuff to get what you're really looking for.
While PS3 info is very prevalent on the web, we want to give you something that brings it all together. Not only do we want to cover the basics for those
of you who are acclimating yourself to broad range of functionality the PS3 has to offer, we want also want to cater to those of you who are looking to
take the system to the limit. As you may already be aware, this system has a multitude of settings that can be tweaked -- if you're a performance-enhancing
junkie like we are, you'll want to know everything about those features, how to use them, and when to use them. We'll do our best to keep the topics both
narrow and focused to ease your access to the information you need. For the sake of brevity, and in the typical fashion you'll see in all content on our site,
we'll do our best to give you only what you need to know or what is important so you don't spend all of your time sifting through a bunch of fluff like
you do on forums, discussion boards, or other sites in general.
We'll also dig into some of the lesser known facts about the PS3 -- so don't run out and buy those official add-on accessories just yet! You just might be able to save yourself a little cash. For example...
- Do you want to know how to use any Bluetooth headset with your PS3?
- Do you want to know what the difference between bitstream and Linear PCM -- and which should I choose?
- Do you want to know how to use a smart remote (such as a Logitech) with your system even though it's not a Bluetooth device?
We'll address these things plus a whole lot more in coming installments in our PS3 info library. Please bookmark this page and check back with us frequently for new updates!
